There’s A Lot Going On At “The Kate!”

The Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center, (The Kate), open only about 7 months, is finding its stride and is jam-packed with shows and exhibits and music and film and whatever else we can book that we think you’ll like.

I have served on the board of trustees for the theater for nearly four years and saw it thru its construction years and now to what’s on stage. The acoustics in this venue on Main Street in Old Saybrook, Connecticut are beyond wonderful which keeps patrons and artists thrilled, not to mention that we have six stalls for the ladies in the powder room, that has turned out to be a real selling point. Even Broadway can’t say that.

I have put only a fraction of items that are scheduled for the theater thru June for the test of the list go here. I write the blog for The Kate, so not much gets past me, between that and serving on the board.

The theater is in the old Town Hall and it has been fully restored to all of its splendor going back to 1910. The building is on the Registry of National Historic Landmarks and is a beautiful place to spend some time.

We have a lot of musicians passing thru, we have a lot of events for children, live Opera from the MET, and of course the annual gala is coming up and that will be in July this year.

I’ve been let in on some of the secrets concerning that, and it’s going to be beautiful. It’s July 17th to be exact, so mark that down on your calendars.

For more information about anything you’ve seen here you can go to The Kate web site or you can call the theater at 860-510-0473. See you at The Kate!
