Baking Up Something Sweet

When I was growing up in South Bend, Indiana a very similar place that my family went to was called The Dainty Maid and it was family owned and all the birthday cakes that we didn’t make came from there.

At the Cozy Corner Bake Shop in Killingworth, they have one of those wonderful cake carousels, and as it rotates you will see a ton you’ll want to take home.

The fresh-baked smell in the place is intoxicating and for heavens sake don’t go there hungry or it’s all over, a weeks pay could easily be spent. There are breads and rolls, cookies,  pies and tortes and European and Scandinavian delights which thrills me to no end. I am of Swedish descent and grew up on cardamom breads, and they have them there. Somehow the tow loaves they had ended up in my car headed for home, geez how did that happen?

While you can take the baked goods home, you can also have a sweet breakfast there too. A cup of coffee and your choice of a baked good all for a grand total of $2.50. Yesteryear prices or what?

This is a wonderful place with great fresh items and I’m all about helping the little guy and you should be too in Connecticut…so stop on by, and if you’re goin in hungry, don’t say I didn’t warn you.
