Get Your Lobster At The Shack

lobster-shackThe Lobster Shack in Branford, Connecticut, I have on good authority, is also a “love shack.” Yep there was a wedding here this summer right out on the dock near this delightful little eatery.

The “shack,” which is really a very fancy trailer, has seen a lot of action in its three years of existence. It opens right around Mother’s Day each year and closes Columbus Day weekend.

I learned of this delightful place the other day when News 8 decided to take some photos there. Of course I couldn’t leave without having one of the rolls. It was dripping in butter and it was delicious!

The menu is simple here, lobster, and clams, sausage and peppers, hot dogs and there’s ice cream and gelato too and coolers full of sodas and water.

When your name is called over the loud speaker attached to the top of the trailer, you “come and get it” and take your haul out to one of the picnic tables set up by the water right by the clamming boats . This is New England at its best.

The Lobster Shack doesn’t have a web site, there hasn’t been time to set one up and the owners say they’re doing just fine by word of mouth. This Labor Day they handed out about 300 lobster rolls, oh folks are finding them just fine alright.

Should you need to talk to someone however you can email the owner, Arlene Crismale at arc6678@sbcglobal.net

You can find the place at 50 Maple Street, Branford, CT. The number to call is 203-483-8414.
