Music Theatre of Connecticut

DSCN0712-300x2251Is your child singing and dancing around the house, do you feel like they should be on the stage?

Have you heard about the Music Theatre of Connecticut in Westport, Connecticut? Well you need to learn about it. In existence for 23 years, they continue to do a bang up job for budding actors and actresses.

You can enroll your children ages 4 thru high school here. They produce Equity productions and have a nationally-recognized College-Bound Performing Arts program.

I visited this wonderful place and talked to the folks who make it work and got a real education about what they do. Because they are so close to New York City, they bring in a lot of actors and singers who mentor children and young adults. They build their own sets here for performances and they have costumes out the wazoo.

Their students find their way to Broadway too, think of this place as a “farm team” for singing and acting greats.

Oh, they bring in fabulous entertainment too. You will get a fabulous up close and personal seat to headliners. We’re talking only 48 seats in the theatre, a real intimate cabaret. You can reach out and touch these folks, but refrain from don’t that.

Call up and find out about this wonderful place for the singers and actors in your family. I am all about supporting the arts in Connecticut. I’m on the board of the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center in Old Saybrook, Connecticut and know that now more than ever, the arts have to help each other to thrive. What would a world be without the arts? Terrible I tell you, TERRIBLE.

Listen to the video below with MTC Producing Artistic Director Kevin Connors and Director, Jim Schilling to hear more about this great place. Two real fun-loving guys who have wonderful resumes with which to teach.
