It’s A Gem Of A Place With A Movie Star Name

Big doings at the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center (The Kate) in Old Saybrook, Connecticut, we now have a outdoor marquis to tell you about all the wonderful events gong on!

This may not be the biggest flash to you ever, but we’re thrilled that it’s up and running. It’s a real fine match to the building we think. The Kate is about to celebrate it’s second year anniversary and as with everything, things take time, and the marquis did.

The building in which “The Kate” is housed, is now one-hundred years old. This building which was Old Saybrook’s Town Hall is on the Register of Historic Places in the U.S.

So much has happened in these two years. We’ve had hundreds of performances already which include movies, plays,  live opera, comedy shows and plenty of music.

The official Katharine Hepburn U.S. Postage stamp was also unveiled here.

If you haven’t been to a performance here yet, get a move on.

I’ve been on the board for years. We’re a non-profit, so we’d love you to take a seat sometime soon.

From the pictures you’ll note we’re right next to the Town Green. We do performances there too which have included Shakespeare and we do outdoor opera too.

There is so much going on at The Kate you’ll just have to check it out for yourself go to the web site here : The Kate.

We have tours too and the theater can be rented. Something for everyone.

Hepburn was quoted as saying “Listen To The Song Of Life” that makes a lot of sense if you hang around the theater enough like I do.
