What Are You Doing On The 4th Of July?
So what are you doing on the Fourth of July? It’s a favorite summer holiday for most and it means many things including Independence Day.
If you plan to hang a flag vertically, the blue goes on the top left, not the right. I’m a stickler for that since I attended camp as a kid and that was drilled into us. I helped to raise the flag at camp and take it down and somewhere along the way there was a vertical opportunity for old glory to be hung and that’s where I learned the correct way to display it.
A lot of you will head out on the highway to get to your holiday destination. Yep, and you’ll sit and sit in traffic. It seems to me that “get out of town day” gets moved up every year, for instance this year the highways in Connecticut seemed to be jammed up on June 30th.
Whatever you’re doing, where ever you’re headed, eyes on the road, and be safe.
The country is united on this holiday every year, or should be to celebrate independence. We’ve got a good thing going here in America, though we’re off track these days and need to once again find our way. Not that you should ponder that at your backyard barbecue, but if you get a minute or two think about you, what all of us can do, to find our way home again.
So what are you doing on the Fourth of July? Here’s what I found out with my iphone at Malone’s Bar & Grill in Madison, Connecticut and in the News 8, WTNH-TV newsroom in New Haven, Connecticut. Thanks for playing a long this was fun, so Americana!
By the way, feel free to weigh in on the comment section here on this blog post about what you’re doing for the holiday, would love to read what you’re up to.

Jason, thank you for that kind invite, sounds like fun, if only I wasn’t in the middle of planning for my oldest daughter’s wedding, that is front and center these days, but an absolute joy. Have a great 4th!
As a wedding planner, this is the one weekend that I hardly ever book a wedding for. I tend to decline them because it is the one weekend in the summer I take to enjoy my family, and friends at our annual 4th party. Plus I have a long standing client, and I always decorate for her family event. I’m thrilled we are having such great weather to enjoy this holiday weekend.
Kia, I so agree that everybody needs some down time and good for you for recognizing that. But even so you’re still giving of yourself for others on the holiday, you sound like me, that’s just the way we roll.
Another Fourth is in the books. Watched some of the fireworks from Boston on TV.
Didn’t have any special plans for the day; when the forecast turned out to be good, mowed and teddered about four acres of hay. You know what they say about making hay while the sun shines. Should be ready to bale by Wednesday.
Happy Birthday USA.
