Broderick and Watson Are “100 Watt Suns”

Dan Watson of the long time New England rock group “Wicked Peach” and acoustic duo “2 Cat Zoo” and about three other bands, and Steve Broderick a former Trans Siberian Orchestra lead singer and rocker are in a Connecticut band called 100 Watt Suns. Watson is in his signature sneakers, Broderick in his boots.

Broderick, new to North Stonington Connecticut from New York, started to get to know the local music scene and he kept running into Watson of Noank who was, and is, constantly out playing everywhere. One thing lead to another, they decided to get together to see what kind of music they could make and ended up putting out a CD called “Shamrock Eyes.”

They played “What I Wish For You” at a quintessential historic New England Inn which I found so charming, I’ll be headed back there. It’s called the Captain Daniel Packer Inne. It’s in Mystic, on Water Street off the beaten path a bit. It goes back to the mid 1700’s. Seriously, you have to read the background about this Inn and then hang out in the old bar to really get a feel for this cozy place.

As soon as I saw the picture at the top of this post, I knew just where you’d taken it. The flintlock rifle on the mantle and the bar in the background are the giveaway. Glad you discovered the Daniel Packer, or the “D.P.I.”, as it’s known to the locals.
