Trapped in the Blizzard of 2013
To be a reporter is to cover what’s going on around you…sometimes you become a part of the story.
That was the case on Friday night, February 8th at the height of the blizzard when News 8 reporter, Jacquie Slater of Killingworth, Connecticut and J.P. Coleman slid off I-91, went down an embankment and ended up spending more than 10 hours in their car in white out conditions before being rescued by the Connecticut National Guard.
A harrowing experience for sure, but they are fine. Through the night State Police who were out on the dangerous roads checked opn them, but they couldn’t get them out, nor could an independent plow driver, who when he tried go stuck too.
So here is a reporter’s story about what happened.
