The Sandy Ground Project, Where Angels Play

bridge 247This is such a beautiful project going on, living memorials in the names of all who lost their lives in the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14th, 2012.

There are playgrounds being dedicated in Connecticut, New York and New Jersey to all the the children and staff members who lost their lives at the school. All of them are being built in areas damaged by Hurricane Sandy.

This undertaking is called The Sandy Ground Project, Where Angels Play. It is being spearheaded by New Jersey Firefighter, Bill Lavin who had an idea after his organization heeded a call to help. The New Jersey State Firefighters’ Mutual Benevolent Association were thanked by third graders for their work on 9-11 in New York City and it turned out later they all needed help following hurricane Katrina. Eighty percent of the children had lost their homes so Lavin and his team went down and built three of the first handicapped playgrounds in the history of Mississippi.

Watch in the video below and Lavin will tell you all about what is going on as a sign of hope, building playgrounds where children can just be chldren.

The playgrounds are all being built and dedicated to the angels below. If you would like to help out or donate click here: The Sandy Ground Project it takes a village and we’re all in this together.
