We’ve got an idea for you, a place maybe you don’t know about. Hop Brook Lake Recreation Area in Middlebury, Connecticut. There are 536 acres here on which to swim, hike, canoe, sail, and fish and on and on. It’s open Mid-April through October from 8 until sundown.

The lake was created by the US Army Corps of Engineers as part of flood control after the devastating flood of 1955. If you’re a tree lover you’ll find white pines, maple, oak, hickory ash and even dogwoods here. This is a great place too for bird watching, wildlife abounds here.

Information about all the the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers does in New England can be found on their facebook page, you’ll get quite an education, lots of things you did not know about concerning this area of Connecticut. https://www.facebook.com/HopBrookLake
