ART AFTER DARK CONTINUES AT MYSTIC ARTS CENTER

On Tuesday, July 15, Mystic Arts Center will host the third installment of their after-hours art event series, Art After Dark, featuring live music by Shiny Lapel Trio and live art by Sam Brown. From 6-8:30 pm, attendees can enjoy Cottrell beer, Jonathan Edwards wine, cheese tasting by Mystic Cheese Company, and pizza by Pizzetta while enjoying the riverfront patio, listening to music and watching talented artists create artwork. The July event also features live balloon art by April Brunelle. Other sponsors include: ABC Photo Lab, CMB Creative Group, Sea Swirl, Duncklee Cooling & Heating, and Mystic Cheese Company.

The Shiny Lapel Trio may keep it simple with just three instruments, but the four-member band has a big sound and velvety smooth vocals. This act – featuring lead man Tiger Marion on vocals, Marc Iacobellis on bass, Rich Talarczyk on drums, and James Alio on guitar   will make your feet hurt from dancing and your voice hoarse from singing along to their swing tunes.

Since early 2000, artist Sam Brown has created drawings based on submitted titles at Explodingdog.com. He also does weekly drawings at the Daily Dot and has thousands of drawings on Tumblr. He also recently published a children’s book, “Sometimes I Forget You’re a Robot.”

Art After Dark is designed to bring together art forms and showcase the Mystic Arts Center’s role as a community hub for new creative expression and young artists. Tickets, available at the door: $15 (non-members); $12 (members); $3 (children 4-12) Children 0-3 are free. Guests should dress for the weather. The event will move indoors if weather is inclement. Two hour parking vouchers included.
