“Color Forms” By Judith Pond Kudlow

Tissue paper crinkled in light glows on the canvas. Shadows cascade down draped linens. They narrow the defiant gaze of a young girl in flowing white. An air of mystery patterns these introspective narratives, the unseen as essential as any surface detail.

You are cordially invited to an opening reception at the Cooper & Smith Gallery, on Saturday, December 5, 4:30 – 7:30, for Color Forms, oil paintings in the classical tradition by Judith Pond Kudlow.

Judith paints in the 19th-century academic tradition, which emphasizes working from life, drawing with precision, balancing harmonious and accurate colors and values, creating the 3-dimensional illusion through careful modeling, and arranging compositions according to time-honored rules. Informed by the past yet firmly rooted in the present, her paintings are both contemporary and timeless.
Color forms will be on exhibit December 2 through January. Gallery hours: W-F, Noon – 5, Sa -Su, 11 – 5, and by chance. 10 Main Street, Essex, CT.
