I could not be prouder of my event planner friend Karen Bussen. Take a look at what she is doing for our military veterans in this country. Karen is involved in a volunteer project to decorate the VA Medical Center in NYC for the holidays to bring cheer and festivity to veterans who visit the hospital. Her Dad was a veteran, as was mine and this project is personal to her. She is decorating “Tribute Trees” all over the facility, each has a different theme to honor veterans.
**** Here is where all of you come in… she is collecting digital photos (via email) for the “Veterans and Their Families” tree. Karen is collecting photos of Veterans of any branch of U.S. Military service with their families. These photos will be displayed on holiday “Tribute Trees” in the VA Hospital on East 23rd Street, from December 5 through the New Year.
If you have a Veteran in your family (parent, grandparent, brother, sister, child, etc), please email a digital photo (color or black and white is fine) of you and/or your family with your veteran to:   VAHoliday2015@gmail.comPhotos must be received by December 1st. The project organizers will print your photo and hang it in a place of honor on one of the dozen Tribute Trees at the hospital, to celebrate your loved one’s service, and to provide warmth and good cheer to all our Veterans who may be visiting the hospital this holiday season..

Again, this Tribute Tree will feature photos of Veterans with their families, so examples would include: a photo of your parents or grandparents who are Veterans; a photo of a Veteran parent holding a baby child or posing with kids; a family group photo that includes your Veteran(s), etc. Please include the name and rank and branch in which your Veteran served. Photos of Active-duty Service Members and their families also welcomed!
