December 6, 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
While a visit to Hill-Stead during the holiday season always gives a peek at the past, Meet the Family on the first Sunday in December, invites visitors to call on the Popes and celebrate the holiday in their home. This year, the Popes welcome a very special guest—artist Mary Cassatt. Museum interpreters dress in vintage costumes to portray members of the Pope family, their guests, and the household staff, as they act out vignettes based on the real accounts of life at Hill-Stead. “One of the highlights of this event,” commented Curator Melanie Bourbeau, “is that guests hear true stories, straight from the mouths of famous and not-so-famous characters.”
