Documentary Filmmaker, Elena Rossini

Elena Rossini traveled from Paris, France to talk about an issue about which she is so passionate….body image and how marketing shows perfection when that is impossible to obtain. Rossini, a documentary filmmaker, spent about 7 years traveling the world to produce “The Illusionists.” The film is about the marketing of unattainable beauty ideas from around the world. She started the project on a shoestring budget, but because of the topic, people were drawn to her. She is currently screening her film globally. I was drawn to her too because of the message. When she recorded on my show, NYBERG, she had spoken at Harvard.

I am so glad this young woman is addressing this issue from a documentary standpoint. We can’t overemphasize the falsity of airbrushed perfection. I know so many otherwise smart, confident and beautiful young women who can fall into the body image trap, even though they are well aware that it’s not real or attainable.
