Country Acres and Cul-De-Sacs, The Book of Connecticut Circle Magazine

Tonight’s NYBERG features a new book just out called “Country Acres and Cul-De-Sacs.” It pulls from the then very popular “Connecticut Circle Magazine” which was first published in 1938…it became what we now know as “Connecticut Magazine.” Yale University History Professor, Jay Gitlin took three years to pull from “Connecticut Circle” to tell the tale of what Connecticut was like many moons ago. The book preserves the history of the state when it was being sold as a country shangri la in which to live. Professor Gitlin is fascinating to listen to, harnessing so much information about the history of the state including stories of Hollywood stars who had, and have, homes in the state.
