New Haven Reads Needs You As A Volunteer

Since 2001, New Haven Reads has helped thousands of children boost their reading skills free of charge and has given away nearly 2-million books. It all started when its founder, the late Christine Alexander, opened a book bank and a year later it became a one-on-one tutoring program. Volunteers sign on to give their time to a child and the results are that these children better succeed in life as an adult. As we speak, there are 136-children waiting to be tutored in reading at one of their four locations. New Haven Reads is in constant need of volunteers, at least 15 years old to help children read,  gently used children’s books, and monetary donations to keep the non-profit organization rolling along for generations to come.
