Connecticut Based Save The Children Celebrates 100 Years

Fairfield-based Save The Children is in 120 countries around the world, its mission is to help children in time of need. It’s founder, Eglantyne Jebb, was in Britain in 1919, she saw what World War I did to children and she started her quest to help at all costs,. She advocated that all children had rights, that they deserved to be happy, healthy, have shelter and food no matter where they came from. One hundred years later, the organization continues to be ready at a moments notice. When a community anywhere in the world cannot handle a large-scale emergency, Save The Children moves in. To date one-billion children have been reached in all aspects of their lives. Luciana Bonifacio, Vice President of Resource Development, has been with the organization for 20 years.
